Carrying weight

DWARF mini’s 840 g body is the clearest reason to start there. At approximately 1.35 kg, the DWARF 3 body creates a heavier carrying setup before the tripod and other accessories are added.

Tele optics and camera layout

DWARF mini uses a 30 mm tele aperture and a Sony IMX662 tele sensor. DWARF 3 uses a 35 mm tele aperture, 150 mm tele focal length, and Sony IMX678 tele sensor.

Both models also include a wide camera for aiming and wider compositions.

Exposure settings

DWARFLAB lists up to 90-second exposures for DWARF mini in equatorial mode. The current DWARF 3 setup guide lists up to 60 seconds in equatorial mode.

An exposure-time limit is one setting in the imaging workflow. Tracking, sky conditions, filters, processing, and the number of stacked frames also affect the finished image.

Tripod, storage, and power

Both telescopes require a separately selected tripod. DWARF 3 supports standard 1/4-20 tripods and its direct package includes a carrying bag, magnetic solar filter, USB-C cable, and cleaning cloth.
